WHY PEELS?

Skin resurfacing, i.e. renewing the skin thanks to peelinigs. WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?

Peeling is a dermatological-aesthetic treatment that uses a chemical acid to have a very stimulating and regenerating effect on the skin. Intensive dermatological peeling (also known as chemical peeling) in Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Essen is a non-invasive method that has become established as skin resurfacing. It is suitable for refreshing and rejuvenating ageing skin, reducing fine wrinkles, minimising (acne) scars and enlarged pores, as well as removing pigmentation spots. They remove the upper parts of the skin layer, stimulate collagen formation in deeper skin layers and inhibit acne bacteria (Propionibacterium Acnes). Chemical peeling can also be beneficial for oily skin.

APPLICATION OF MEDICAL PEELINGS

Mostly used on the face and décolleté, but in some cases also on the back and back of the hands. A pigment-stabilising cream therapy should be started at least 4 weeks before the first peeling treatment. A total of around 2-10 treatments are recommended, with each treatment resulting in a visible improvement.

Here's how it works: The peeling (the acid) is applied to the face with a brush or cotton pad and removed after a few minutes. You will feel a slight burning sensation. The acid causes the top layer of skin to die off, which then begins to peel and slowly regenerate. After two to six, maximum ten sessions, during which the acid concentration is gradually increased, the skin looks younger and smoother, although deep wrinkles do not disappear.

Your skin will begin to peel after about 2-3 days. This takes about 3-6 days. It is particularly important that you strictly avoid the sun and use sun protection products after the peelings. Peelings are NOT carried out during the warmer months of the year. Chemical peels in Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Essen are comparable to a surgical procedure or a CO2 laser, such as the fraxel laser, and have side effects such as temporarily increased UV sensitivity and thus possible pigmentation, redness and risks such as infections.

METHOD AND TREATMENT

Professional dermatological peeling, in contrast to mechanical peeling, is a procedure that causes the skin to peel off through the action of chemical substances.

Depending on the desired depth of penetration, a distinction is made between three chemical peeling methods: there are superficial, medium-depth and deep peelings. The greater the removal of the uppermost skin layers, the stronger the applied substances must be, but also the more effective the effect.

A chemical peel not only cleanses deeply but also lasts for several years, depending on the method. Women and men who do not wish to undergo surgery can improve their skin's surface structure with a chemical peel.

Light peelings with e.g. salicylic acid (BHA) or glycolic acid (AHA) accelerate the so-called skin turn-over. The peelings allow the complexion to become clear and even again, they also help with acne and oily skin. Salicylic acid not only removes skin cells on the surface, but also reduces sebum secretion. Therefore, salicylic acid peels clear clogged pores that contribute to acne breakouts. A stronger glycolic acid can also be used to treat certain skin problems such as wrinkles, age spots and acne inflammation.

Stronger peels, such as TCA peels made from trichloroacetic acid and phenol peels, lead to strong collagen regeneration and thus to tighter, smoother skin, combating scars, acne scars and reducing wrinkles and sun damage (photo-ageing), such as pigmentation spots. The application of a chemical peel improves the surface structure of the facial skin: By removing the outer and dead skin cells, the epidermis is stimulated and regenerated and new structures are built. Are chemical peels painful?

Chemical peels can give a tingling and warming sensation. This is by no means unpleasant and the treatment is quick from start to finish.

What can I expect after the chemical peel?

After the prescribed time, the peel is neutralised and a therapeutic moisturiser and sunscreen are applied. With light chemical peels, your skin will glow and look beautiful immediately. With medium peels, your skin may show sunburn in the days following the procedure. Depending on the depth of your peel, results can be maintained with at-home products or monthly or annual follow-ups. Mild swelling, redness and peeling may occur in the weeks following treatment.

What are chemical peels?

Chemical peels remove dead skin cells to reveal new, more youthful and healthier skin. While the skin normally sheds old, dull dead skin cells every 28 days, this process slows down with prolonged sun exposure and ageing. Chemical peels speed up this natural cell turnover and accelerate the growth of new collagen, or the skin-firming protein that acts as a scaffold for the skin. What are the contraindications to chemical peeling?

Contraindications for any peeling are Pregnancy, breastfeeding, herpes disease, chemotherapy, cancer, injuries, inflammation, dermatitis, psoriasis in treatment areas. Additional contraindications for phenol peels: diabetes, circulatory and cardiac insufficiency, liver disease.

How many treatments are recommended for scars/pregnancy marks treatment?

For scars/pregnancy marks radiofrequency microneedling treatment, 4-5 treatments with 4-6 week intervals are recommended. With Dermapen it would be 6-9 treatments. With Endermologie 12-20 treatments.

Will the skin peel after chemical peeling?
