What are visible facial veins?
Visible small veins – medically telangiectasia – are permanently dilated, very fine blood vessels just under the skin surface. They appear as red or bluish lines, especially on the nose, cheeks and chin, and do not disappear on their own.
How do visible veins develop?
Common causes are genetics, sun and weather, temperature changes, alcohol and nicotine as well as hormonal influences. With age the connective tissue loses firmness – the dilated vessels then remain permanently visible, often as a precursor or companion of couperose.
Having facial veins removed – how we help
With laser vein and couperose removal we close the dilated vessels precisely: the laser light is absorbed by the blood pigment, the vessel seals itself and is broken down by the body – the surrounding skin remains untouched. Usually 1–3 sessions are enough.
