WHAT IS CELLUMA®
Celluma Light Therapy is a form of photobiological therapy that offers a non-invasive, painless treatment method to improve skin health and relieve pain. It is a light LED-based therapy that uses special LED lights to treat targeted areas of the body with light energy.
The Celluma Light Therapy medical therapy device uses a combination of red, blue and infrared light to activate specific cells in the skin and provide cells with extra energy, which in this way can improve cell performance.
The red light energy (640nm) penetrates deep into the skin and increases the production of collagen and elastin, which can lead to firmer, more youthful looking skin. The blue light (465nm) helps destroy bacteria that can cause acne, and the infrared light (880nm) can relieve pain and reduce inflammation.
Similar to photosynthesis in plants, light therapy can also trigger a natural photobiochemical reaction in the skin: for example, with the help of certain wavelengths of LED light, cell metabolism can be promoted, the repair of damaged skin cells or wound healing can be accelerated and collagen production can be stimulated – the basis for healthy, smooth skin. The combination of blue (465 nm), red (645 nm) and infrared (880 nm) light allows for a wide therapeutic use (treatment of acne, wounds, pain and anti-aging skin rejuvenation).
The effect of Celluma® light therapy is clinically proven. Celluma® has FDA approval and is considered a CE medical device IIa.
Celluma® light therapy not only increases cell activity, it also repairs DNA damage, reduces wrinkles, inhibits inflammation, kills acne bacteria, reduces redness and accelerates wound healing.

CELLUMA® – BLUE LED – Light therapy for acne treatment
Acne is a persistent medical skin condition that can affect the face, décolletage , back, shoulders and arms, and while it doesn’t necessarily affect our physical health, it can certainly take a psychological toll.
Celluma® – Blue LED – Light Therapy Acne Treatment is a non-invasive treatment method to combat acne. The blue light kills bacteria responsible for causing acne, reduces sebum production and shrinks pores. The treatment is safe, has no known side effects and takes about 30 minutes. A series of sessions a few weeks apart is recommended for best results.
Acne occurs when an abundance of dead skin cells and a naturally produced oil called sebum clog tiny hair follicles or pores. As sebum production continues to build up beneath the plug in the skin’s surface, it becomes infected with P. acne bacteria, causing swelling, redness and inflammation.
What are common acne treatments?
If you suffer from acne, you have most likely tried many treatments. From over-the-counter cleansers, creams, masks and serums to even more extreme measures like prescription antibiotics and even Accutane. Some people need a more specialised acne treatment “cocktail” to get rid of breakouts for good.
How can blue light therapy get rid of acne faster?
If you suffer from acne, you’ve probably heard of light therapy as a possible solution to your pimple problems. LED blue light therapy is the new wave of skincare for people who have tried other acne treatments but still aren’t seeing the results they want.
Celluma® Light Therapy works by killing acne-causing bacteria at the source, deep below the skin’s surface. As people across the country look for more natural, chemical-free alternatives to traditional medical solutions, light therapy fits the bill perfectly. When a particularly extreme acne breakout occurs, LED light therapy for acne is a great treatment option for quick results.
The blue CELLUMA® PDT light therapy acne treatment at LASER ÄSTHETIK Düsseldorf, Essen and in Dortmund emits specific, clinically proven light wavelengths to trigger an all-natural effect in human tissue, killing acne-causing bacteria, reducing inflammation and improving skin tone, texture and clarity from the inside out. However, not all light therapy is the same.

Light therapy for acne – blue and red LED light treatment is often used as an effective option for treating inflammatory acne. One study concluded that “… blue light and red light can act synergistically in improving acne” by combining antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, making blue and/or red light phototherapy an effective and safe treatment for acne vulgaris.
What are the advantages of the blue Celluma® light therapy (465 nm) ?
Celluma® blue light therapy is equally suitable for juvenile and adult acne.
In addition to the blue light (465 nm), an amount of red (640 nm) and infrared (880 nm) light is emitted that is optimally adapted to acne treatment.
Ageing could be described as the breakdown of the metabolic process. For as long as we can remember, people have been looking for ways to minimise the effects of ageing. So how can we safely and effectively reduce or even reverse the effects of ageing? When it comes to ageing, a major factor that leads to wrinkles, fine lines and joint pain is due to insufficient levels of collagen. Collagen is the main structural protein in your skin and other connective tissue. Collagen literally holds our bodies together. Fibroblasts make collagen fibres, so it stands to reason that the more and healthier fibroblasts we have in our skin, the more and better collagen fibres will be made. And as we all know, collagen synthesis and maintenance is the foundation of anti-ageing.
Healthy collagen levels give us a glowing complexion, firm skin, strong nails, dense bones and healthy hair. Simply put, the more collagen our bodies produce, the better we will look and feel as we age.
Signs of ageing
Fibroblast cells are responsible for producing collagen and elastin, the two most abundant proteins in connective tissue. However, as we age, our fibroblasts become impaired, resulting in lower levels of these proteins. We may notice reduced elasticity in our skin, wrinkles and our joints may not move as freely as they used to. This is because low collagen levels lead to cartilage damage, which can cause inflammation, pain, stiffness, arthritis and increased recovery time after physical activity.
Anti-Aging Treatment with LED Light Therapy at LASER AESTHETICS
Now that we have a basic understanding of why collagen is so important as we age, let’s look at the most groundbreaking and natural way to effectively create more collagen in your body using the well aging effects of LED light therapy at LASER AESTHETICS. Proven red and near-infrared wavelengths are used in the Celluma® PDT LED light therapy devices at LASER ÄSTHETIK Essen, Düsseldorf and in Dortmund to combat the signs of skin ageing. These specific wavelengths of light energy are clinically verified to enhance your body’s natural ability to produce collagen and elastin by activating fibroblast cells. No prescriptions. No medications. No injections. Just safe, natural wavelengths of effective, proven light energy.
Celluma® works to increase collagen production:
Let’s quickly go over two biological basics: the citric acid cycle and adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
When all these important metabolic events take place, it leads to better results beyond just collagen production. We see a cascade of benefits such as:
The synergistic effect is that your body is optimised to heal itself. Patients who use Celluma® LED light therapy devices for wrinkle treatment begin to see:
With Celluma® light therapy for skin
With the wavelength 880 nm (near infrared) the wound healing of the skin is accelerated (injuries, inflammations, bruises)
LED light therapy with CELLUMA at LASER ÄSTHETIK Dortmund, Düsseldorf and in Essen against hair loss is a modern and safe method for combating hair loss and alopecia and helps to improve the condition of the scalp and hair. The LED light irradiation treatment is performed using a special lamp. LED light with a wavelength of 640 nm stimulates microcirculation in the hair follicles, oxygenates and nourishes them. The light energy emitted by the lamp is converted into chemical energy in the illuminated area, which stimulates metabolism in skin cells, hair follicles and hair bulbs, resulting in stimulation of protein synthesis (the main building block of hair). Thanks to these processes that take place in the scalp during irradiation with the LED lamp, the following happens: Hair strengthening and inhibition of hair loss, stimulation of new hair production, increased hair density, increased elasticity, thickness and resilience of hair, improved absorption of nutrients by hair bulbs, stimulation of collagen production in the skin, stimulation of hair follicle cells for regeneration.
Indications:
Phototherapy is a procedure recommended for people with the following problems:
Celluma® light therapy for hair loss is performed on the scalp affected by excessive hair loss and difficulties in its regrowth, e.g. in the temple area, on the top of the head and above the forehead. However, alopecia can affect all hairy areas of the body, so light therapy can also be used in other areas.
In order for the hair light therapy to bring the desired success, the treatment should be carried out in several series, at least 2-3 times per week. However, if it is necessary to return to baldness therapy in the future, the procedure can be repeated regardless of age and gender.
Phototherapy for hair loss is recommended for all people who are struggling with the problem of excessive hair loss, as well as difficulties with their regrowth. The treatment is not harmful to the patient and can therefore be performed at any age.
Phototherapy for hair loss requires no convalescence, so you can return to your daily tasks immediately after treatment.
Light therapy has been shown to accelerate tissue repair, reduce wound size and accelerate wound closure and other beneficial effects. These mechanisms have been shown to promote skin wound healing and reduce pain associated with the healing process. Celluma is suitable for dermal wound healing. This refers to superficial wounds, as well as normal, acute post-operative and chronic wound healing, as well as diabetic ulcers.
Low-level light therapy in LASER AESTHETICS shortens a patient’s recovery time while reducing discomfort and improving overall results. It is ideal after any ablative procedure and before and after surgery for the following reasons.
Phototherapy accelerates tissue repair, reduces wound size, speeds the resolution of erythema and prevents dehiscence. Celluma® light therapy can also reduce the appearance of hypertrophic scars and keloids before surgery.
Ongoing postoperative photorejunvenation (activation of fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin, stimulation of keratinocytes that produce keratin to give structural strength to the skin).Celluma can also be used as a prevention of postinflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Phototherapy is antibacterial. Activating mast, macrophage and neutrophil cells can reduce inflammation and protect against infection.
Groundbreaking research on Low Level Light Therapy (LLT), also known as LED therapy, was conducted by NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center out of concern for astronauts who might become injured or ill during a long-duration space flight. The therapeutic benefits of LLLT have been demonstrated in thousands of clinical studies, articles and literature to show that the mechanism of action is cellular absorption of photons (light energy) and increased production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the form of energy that cells use to drive cellular activity.
